This weekend was Easter weekend and I spent it with my family in Ohio. Lent ended and so did my vow. I didn't once cheat. On Sunday, I only had 6 small pieces of chocolate, one can of diet Pepsi and one piece of cake. That's it. I didn't make myself sick, I just enjoyed being able to have sweets again.
My sister, Kate actually got up this morning with me to take me to the airport (bless her little heart). I was physically ill because I never get up that early. I'm not going to tell you what time it was, but the sun wasn't even up yet and wasn't up until the end of my flight. It was totally gross. Kate was such a trooper.
My whole family was wonderful and it was great to be home for a heartbeat.
I leave you humming "You'll Be in My Heart."

Lent is almost over!
As most of you already know, I've given up everything that's good in the food world for Lent. Okay, so not everything that's good, but certainly all sweets. It's been hard, however, I have not once faltered.
Every week has been harder and harder, with the cravings increasing more and more. Yesterday I was walking home from the store and was one block away when I heard music. I turned around and realized the ice cream truck was creeping down the street toward me. Picture if you will a scene from a movie where the heroine is being slowly stalked down the street.
I stopped and the truck stopped, I started walking faster, as did it. I turned the corner onto the street I lived and it followed. I raced up the steps of my building and into the front door. Catching my breath, I turned around and there it was, parked directly in front of my building under the guise of giving the kids across the street some ice cream. Yeah right, I know what it's up to.
Lent is almost over and I have not once cheated! Take that World! BB: Point 1, World: Point 2.
I leave you humming "Theme from JAWS."

When are you getting ashed today?
Happy Ash Wednesday everyone! That is if you're Catholic. If not, Happy Wednesday to you.
Today is the beginning of Lent. That means no meat on Friday and giving up something you love (or in S's case adding something good). This year I have taken a huge risk. I will be giving up ALL SWEETS. That's all kinds and any kinds of sweets.
This means (and is not limited to):
Ice cream
Cake
Chocolate
All Candy
Donuts
Hot Chocolate
Danishes
All Dessert Breads (No bread made by Elyse)
Cupcakes
Jello
Pudding
Mousse
Pie
Cobbler
Frozen Yogart
All Pop
Cookies
Brownies
Etc...
So, I'm going to be in a lot of pain for the next 40 days and nights. Well, not actual pain, but I will be going through withdrawal.
I leave you humming "I'll Be Seeing You." (Specifically, the part "I'll be looking at the moon, but I'll be seeing you...")
