Homeward Bound

This weekend was Easter weekend and I spent it with my family in Ohio. Lent ended and so did my vow. I didn't once cheat. On Sunday, I only had 6 small pieces of chocolate, one can of diet Pepsi and one piece of cake. That's it. I didn't make myself sick, I just enjoyed being able to have sweets again.

My sister, Kate actually got up this morning with me to take me to the airport (bless her little heart). I was physically ill because I never get up that early. I'm not going to tell you what time it was, but the sun wasn't even up yet and wasn't up until the end of my flight. It was totally gross. Kate was such a trooper.

My whole family was wonderful and it was great to be home for a heartbeat.

I leave you humming "You'll Be in My Heart."

What St. Patrick's Day means to me:

1. Everyone (or everyone should be) wearing green today. It's my favorite color so this is the day that everyone matches me.

2. Times Square is overcrowded. Not only do you have to dodge traffic like usual, you have to dodge large families taking pictures, cops issuing drunk frat boys tickets for being disorderly and tourists coming from the parade (which you didn't get to attend because you had to be at work.)

3. Being able to turn down kegs and eggs. It's gross drinking beer before 7:00 PM, let alone drinking it with breakfast at 8:00 AM

4. Getting to hum Irish tunes all day and no one says anything.

5. Up in the Heights, you can't even tell it's St. Patrick's Day. However, wait until the Dominican Republic's Independence Day. That's when the party happens.

6. A big excuse for everyone and their brother to get wasted. I will be celebrating in and might even order Chinese food. Take that World.

7. Sorting through all of my clothes and trying to figure out which green outfit to wear today. So many choices!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I leave you humming "White, Orange and Green."
