I miss it already...

The snow. The cold temperatures. My winter coat!!

This is what I want to be doing:

Not as a monkey though.

Soon I'll be humming "Pore Coat is Daid" to the tune of "Pore Jud is Daid" while I slowly bury my coat in the back of my closet. It's really only a matter of time now. I don't look forward to it.

I leave you humming (obviously) "Pore Coat is Daid."

You call this a Blizzard?

So, everyone is calling this the 2010 Blizzard. I don't get it. We've only had a few inches and we might actually get a foot of snow. That's nothing. My sister Loo already had a foot of snow when the storm NYC is getting now hit her. Still, that's not what we call a blizzard.

Unless we get more than 2 feet, I'm not going to call this a blizzard. I think the people who might be able to call it so would be D.C. and Philadelphia. If you're not in those places you can't call this a snow storm.

For the supposed "toughest" people, New Yorkers are babies when it comes to a tiny bit of snow. I'm not saying in Ohio it snows all the time, but come on. We've had to deal with outrageous temperatures, snow fall, and weather. The people farther North-West have had to deal with worse.

That's all I'm saying.

I leave you humming "Big Girls Don't Cry."

If Only...

This is what I want NYC to look like after the snow tomorrow:

However, I don't think that our sky will be as clear as at this Dutch lake. Also, I think we have a few more buildings here.

Oh well, one can hope, right?

I leave you humming "Snow" (from White Christmas when they're on the train to Vermont.)

Glove Weather

It's really cold today. This is the first time this year I've had to wear gloves. I love my gloves and am more than happy to wear them again. This is my favorite time of the year. Things I like about it:

Hot chocolate
Snow
Christmas music
Revived winter coat (I knew this day would come!)
Earmuffs
Sweaters
Less people out
Boots
Christmas feasts with my roommates
Gloves
Cold temperatures
Midnight mass
Christmas carols

That's just a fraction of my list. I could keep going, but it would probably get ridiculous. I've been thinking about my family's traditions and I wonder about others'. We've been doing the same things since I was a baby. One thing I don't do anymore is play out in the snow.  It's just too much work to prep yourself to go out. Not worth it for a snowball fight where someone for sure will hit you in the face and an out-of-control sled ride that ends with you bailing out before you hit a tree. (Or if you're my sister, Loo, you'll forget and crash headfirst into an apple tree while your sisters, who bailed out, watch in horror from up above.)

Speaking of snow, we had our first winter snow here in the Big Apple this past Saturday. It was beautiful, but unfortunately it was really wet. It made me really excited and ready for the Holidays. Snow gets everyone into the spirit, even if they say they "hate" it. They don't. How could you?? I'll tell you how. You can't!

I leave you humming "Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow."
