Goodbye Summer

Today is the last day of summer. Thankfully. In comes autumn and I couldn't be happier. I'm wearing flip flops in honor of the death of summer. They're black too....how fitting.

You know what this means. It's only a matter of time until a winter coat resurrection occurs. Take that summer! You didn't have your clutches on me for long. The winter coat always prevails over your evil. You think you've won and you've had a few months to rule. But, look who's creeping up to flank you. That's right autumn, the wingman for winter. You had a good run summer, but the time for you making New Yorkers uncomfortable waiting for the train is over. No longer will you make sweat drip down the backs of metro riders or make our streets reek even worse from the hot, rotting garbage.

I will openly defy you with scarves, long sleeve shirts, and jean jackets. All leading up to the ultimate slap in the face....my winter coat. It's only a matter of time now.

I leave you humming "Lord, Send a Revival" (specifically the Sister Act 2 version).
