Trouble comes in threes....

I wiped out on 43rd Street today! It was terrible and I'm in a lot of pain. Well, my knees are.

I was walking down the sidewalk, listening and quietly singing along to "Carry on my Wayward Son," and minding my own business. The next thing I know I'm diving to the pavement and stopping abruptly by my knees smashing into the ground. At this point all I can do is just sit there wondering, how on earth I got down there. A very nice man ran up to me and said "Oh my God Miss, are you okay?!" Of course, I couldn't hear him because my music was still playing, so I read his lips. I pulled my earphones out and responded "How did I get down here?" He told me that he thought the heel of my boot had become stuck on some uneven pavement. Figures, right?

He helped me gather the things that had fallen out of my purse and helped me to my feet. He even asked me if I was alright. I nodded yes. I didn't even have the ability to be embarrassed because I was in shock. He asked me again if I was really okay and I told him that I believed so. He seemed hesitant to leave me there, but I gave him a shaky smile, thanked him and shooed him on his way.

I got my bearings turned my music back on and slowly (and carefully) made my way down the street to work. Talk about traumatizing. Leave it to me to NOT slip on the snow and ice that had accumulated on the ground but instead on uneven pavement that's always there.

My knees were bleeding when I got to the office so I went to the bathroom to put band-aids on. There was a lot of skin on the insides of my tights. So gross. Now my knees feel like they're on fire, which is really an unpleasant feeling.

I was sick yesterday and today I fell. If trouble comes in threes, what's going to happen next? Be careful walking out there today.

I leave you humming "Wipe Out."

  2. Yeah, he was nice looking and also married. That's one of the things I picked up on, in my confusion and shock...the wedding ring on his left hand when he helped me up.
